The Money Lender is a unique print:
It is the only stonelithograph produced in Another Rainbow’s long-running series of the 1980’s and ’90’s.
“Inspired by the famous Norman Rockwell stone lithographs
recreated under the master’s guidance in the 1970’s by Atelier EttingerInc., of New York, Barks and Another Rainbow
chose that studio to do Uncle Scrooge McDuck’s portrait shown here of The Money Lender.
The richness of colors cannot be duplicated by any other process,
but because of the great efforts involving Barks and his wife as well as the expense
it was decided to do only one print in this manner.”
Though done in 1983, The Money Lender was shelved until 1997, fourteen years later!
There were a small number of Artist's and Publisher's Proofs but no Progressive Editions nor Printer’s Proofs.
Two papers were used, the expensive and exotic Inomachi Nacre (Japon) and the very fine, traditional Papier d’Arches.

Produced in 1983. The Money Lender was the fourth Carl Barks lithograph
printed and the first set aside for future release. It is the only one done in the method described herein.

Inspired by the famous Norman Rockwell stone lithographs recreated under the master's guidance in the 1970s by Atelier Ettinger Inc., of New York,
Barks and Another Rainbow chose that studio to do the Uncle Scrooge McDuck portrait produced here of The Money Lender.
The richness of colors cannot be duplicated by any other process, but because of the great efforts involving by Barks as well as the expense it was decided to do only one print in this manner.

Created with a multiplicity of color plates (the records of the actual number have been lost).
The Money Lender measures 17,25" high by 14" wide on 22,5" x 19" deckle-edged paper.
This edition consists of 320 impressions for sale, als follows: 100 pencil-signed deluxe copies on Inomachi Nacre (Japon) paper and 200 signed impressions on papier d'Arches.
An additional 20 examples have been numbered as commemorative prints (the first ten on Japon paper)
and there are a total of 21 Artist's and Publisher's Proofs, not for sale. None have been set aside for the foreign market.
All copies carry the embossed seal of Atelier Ettinger Inc. The stones/plates have been effaced.
